We’re delighted to announce that Vice Admiral, Sir Fabian Malbon, KBE, has agreed to take the role of honorary chairman of Weymouth Leviathan.
Fabian Malbon joined the Royal Navy in 1965, serving for 37 years before retiring in 2002. He was lucky enough to serve in twelve ships and to have three commands. His final appointment was as Deputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet at the Northwood Fleet HQ. He received the KBE in the New Year Honours List 2001, latterly representing Her Majesty the Queen as Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey from 2005 to 2011. He is the Chairman of Trustees at the Union Jack Club in Waterloo and a Trustee of the Chesil Sailing Trust. He now lives in Weymouth with his wife Sue, and they have three sons and four and a half grandchildren.
Sir Fabian’s role within the Leviathan is to support the festival’s organisational team with advice drawn from a lifetime’s involvement with the sea. He will also take a role front of stage, when the festival requires a chap who’s very much more accustomed to public speaking than the rest of us are!
