Tom Cunliffe has agreed to discuss his recently published book, ‘In the Wake of Heroes’ at Weymouth Leviathan in March 2016.
Tom is one of the biggest names in the sailing world. He is a columnist for Yachting Monthly, Yachting World and Classic Boat, as well as writing regularly for magazines in America, Australia, France and Germany. In addition, he is the author of over twenty books. His texts on seamanship and navigation are standard works and two of his books have won literary awards. His face will be familiar to many as a TV presenter, including from his acclaimed BBC series, Boats that Built Britain.
For the last ten years, Tom has edited the ‘Great Seamanship’ column of Yachting World magazine. Each features an extract from a classic yachting book that covers an aspect of great seamanship. In his latest book, ‘In the Wake of Heroes’, a compendium of the best stories from his column, Tom introduces each extract by giving insightful background on the writer, their book and what makes their experience so worth reading about – and learning from.
Introduced in Tom’s quintessential lively, engaging fashion, and illustrated with photos both from the original books and Tom’s own archives, this beautifully packaged book contains a wealth of yachting wisdom and is a collection to be treasured.
‘In the Wake of Heroes’ is published by Adlard Coles, the nautical division of Bloomsbury Publishing.
