Curators from National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, to speak at Leviathan

greeGreeBW

I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to announce that three senior curators from the world’s largest maritime museum, the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London, will be giving talks at Weymouth Leviathan.

  • James Davey, Curator of Naval History, will be giving a talk titled, ‘In Nelson’s Wake’
  • Barbara Tomlinson, Curator Emeritus, will speak about the ‘Heroism of the shipwrecked’
  • Richard Dunn, Senior Curator for the History of Science, is to tell the story of ‘Re-finding longitude’

I know!

  1. James (Leviathan organiser) here. When I was very small, I *begged* mum to take me to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. I’ll never forget my birthday that year, as she took me to visit the museum (and the Cutty Sark, whose woody-oily-tarry smell I can recollect and re-experience to this day). That the great and the good from the focus of my childhood imaginings are coming to Weymouth is beyond terrific and I’m so grateful to them for agreeing to make the trip.
